Half the amount called for was just right for united states;) and I added 1 tsp. of ground cumin, because we are especially addicted of that spice. Otherwise, I made it as written. Cut the salt in half! It's flexible and forgiving. You can also make information technology VEGETARIAN and information technology'due south still not bad: Add together an extra Tbsp of butter at the commencement, so add meatless crumbles nigh v min before the potatoes are done and heat through. I prefer ghee over butter with these flavors. I've also successfully used canned tomatoes, and 1/ii footing turkey 1/ii meatless crumbles.

My mom added a niggling sour cream to hers and that toned information technology down a bit, next fourth dimension I will bump upwardly the mixture with more tomatoes and potatoes than the recipe called for. Thanks for your contribution though!
10/24/2020
My husband and I really enjoyed this dish. He'southward a meat and potatoes guy and I like trying flavorful and spicy dishes, and then this was a good marriage of the two. 05/02/2022
Super easy to brand, peculiarly when using canned diced tomatoes. Yes, it's spicy and I would go easier on the cayenne next time. I used a big sweet irish potato, which helped to tame the cayenne a petty. I besides used Impossible meat to make it vegetarian.
09/11/2021
2 of us really liked this. I, too, browned the ground beef with the onion and garlic to salvage a step (also did not use butter. Used fat from beefiness). Used 1/4 t cinnamon instead of a stick. I used 1/iv t each cayenne and black pepper (that's enough for united states of america). Also reduced salt to 2 t. Potatoes took much longer than xx minutes. In future, I'll probably commencement boiling those separately while browing beef, etc.
08/23/2021
I'm torn between giving this recipe a 3 or a 5; so I'm giving it a 4. Information technology turned out pretty good, simply none of my family was able to stop their plate considering information technology was just likewise hot. I think the season was practiced, but it was difficult to tell because it was but also spicy. I experience like people who are used to eating all of these spices would probably dearest it. We are not, therefore we did not. My married man suggested trying it again and reducing the curry and the cinnamon. I was shocked that he fifty-fifty tasted the cinnamon. I don't usually call up of cinnamon equally being very hot and then my thought was to reduce the cayenne. I'thou not familiar enough with curry to even know that it is hot. He says, "Yes, curry is hot." I think I will simply stay away from this one, every bit I go and endeavour to recover from the serious case of heartburn I've got coming on!
04/29/2021
This was easy and and so delicious. I followed the recipe exactly except I was out of cayenne so I used crushed red pepper instead. 03/02/2021
It was Astonishing! The merely thing that I changed was the cayenne pepper. I put half of what the recipe called for and it was notwithstanding spicy. Over all this dish is awesome!

05/22/2020
Surprisingly, I had everything I needed to make the dish. It was wonderfully fragrant and succulent. I didn't make any changes and can't imagine any information technology needs. But make it.
08/21/2020
was actually good. Read the reviews and used half the cayenne pepper and served over basmati rice. we like spicy so could accept used all the cayenne pepper cause the rice helped with the spicy taste. Needed to take more nutrient for four adults so that is the reason behind the rice. Volition be making this again for sure. Bowls were all cleaned up with no leftovers here.
02/05/2020
This was amazing. Adjustments we made: We added 1 sweet white potato, frozen broccoli, minced onions in food processor, added juice and canned Diced tomatoes, a pinch of Cayenne pepper and a pinch of cinnamon. We skipped the blackness pepper and added a tsp more of back-scratch. And added between one/two to 1 cup of h2o and then it wouldn't be dry. My husband loved information technology.
10/19/2016
I really liked this, much more I expected. I did not put potatoes in it, just seemed weird. Had it with chocolate-brown rice. It was very spicy, I loved all the layers of flavors.
01/13/2019
Like shooting fish in a barrel and delicious! I followed the recipe (except I used jarred minced garlic and one/2 t cinnamon powder for convenience) and it actually was virtually as quick to make as it said even on my own. The only thing I would alter is adding closer to a teaspoon of salt rather than the 2.5 t it calls for, every bit it tasted a bit salty to me. I remember it would likewise exist adept with other veggies such as peas and bell peppers!
10/13/2019
Truly outstanding recipe. I browned, drained, and rinsed the beef prior to combining with the other ingredients, and it turned out fantastic. I didn't accept ginger on hand, then I substituted another quarter teaspoon of cinnamon, and information technology was one of the best dishes I've ever had.
04/28/2022
I read some reviews and I merely used half the spice, possibly even a piffling less because we don't really care for spicy foods. I served information technology for dinner and it was likewise spicy!!! We ate it merely information technology was pretty unbearable. 2 days later nosotros had the left overs and they were so yummy. The spice had settled and the flavors were just swell. I volition definitely brand this again merely I will make it 3 days before we plan to eat it. I besides used canned diced tomatoes and I added raisins. I like sweet with spice. The raisins were a good improver.
11/17/2020

09/29/2019

12/xxx/2015
Wow! This is sooooooo delicious! I used coconut oil instead of butter and added some brown rice. I also reduced the amount of cayenne. I steamed the potatoes separately so the dish would cook more than chop-chop. I plan to dehydrate half of this and enjoy information technology downwards the trail somewhere. I'k looking forward to it!
02/03/2020
I take made it several times because it is excellent. Of course it is a spicy, hot dish so omit some cayenne for tender tummies. 01/12/2020
This "South Asian-Style Ground Beef (Keema)" was succulent and a "quick and easy" meal. I added water and simmered (not in instructions) and was generous with the potatoes owing to all the review comments about "spiciness." My tomatoes dissolved, then it lacked color. I threw in some chives I had in the freezer, but some other time I would add spinach for color. Thanks farabi for sharing your recipe.
05/31/2018
simple and flavorful. made with ground turkey
04/13/2020
It is a good starting time. I read the reviews, so I did cutting back on the cayenne and various other peppers to lower the oestrus. In my opinion information technology was something missing in the dish. And so I added some sautéed carrots and that brought a brightness to the dish. I will make this aging. It is a great first.... but I will demand to make a few changes to get my guys to ask for seconds.
03/27/2019

I used canned diced tomatoes and a combination of shallots and onions.
12/31/2018
A very delicious dish! I did reduce the cayenne to i/2 tsp to suit my tastes, still enough heat though! Next time I would add ii more potatoes to make more than substantial dish.

04/18/2020
This was Excellent!!! The flavor was like no other that I've had before. The only changes I made were the following: ane/2 tsp if cayenne pepper, 1 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp cinnamon. I will go far the same again. Reason for changes: nosotros similar hot only non likewise hot, I try not to use likewise much salt in any of my dishes, and I didn't take a cinnamon stick then I used the suggestion of i of the other cooks who reviewed this did. Thanks and then Much for sharing this dish, can't wait to make it again!!
04/23/2022

11/21/2020
Made the usual substitutions:canned diced tomatoes. Ground Ceylon cinnamon. I used fresh grated ginger and also added some frozen dark-green peas during final 5 minutes. Information technology was fabulous. A really fast dinner with things I e'er accept on hand. ( I e'er take whole ginger root pieces in the freezer- and so much better than powdered). Served with basmati rice. A definite keeper!
